SERIES NOTES: Amateur defenseman Corey Laurysen scored on a long shot through traffic at 15:35 of overtime to give Rapid City a 3-2 victory over the Mudbugs in Game 3 of the Northern Conference Finals Wednesday at the CenturyTel Center. The victory gave Rapid City a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

GAME NOTES: The Mudbugs clinched third place in the Northern Conference and a first-round playoff bye with a 5-1 victory over Mississippi Tuesday night at the CTC. Shawn Limpright led the way in this one with two goals and two assists, while Jeff Kyrzakos chipped in a goal and an assist as well. Tyrel Lucas and Jamie Milam also found the back of the net and John DeCaro stopped 24 shots while being beaten.

LAST WEEK - Saturday, March 13 at Mississippi DeSoto Civic Center L 6-4
GAME NOTES: Mississippi scored four times in 11 powerplay opportunities to beat the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs 6-4 Saturday night at the DeSoto Civic Center.
After falling behind 2-0 in the first period, the Mudbugs got within one goal four separate times, but never could net the equalizer. Joe Blaznek scored a goal and added two assists in the game, while Dave Pszenyczny had a goal and an assist and Brett Smith chipped in two helpers.

GAME NOTES: The Allen Americans ended Bossier-Shreveport's eight-game winning streak Tuesday night at the CenturyTel Center with a 3-2 victory over the Mudbugs.
The loss, which dropped the 'Bugs to 1-3-1 against Allen this year, was their first since February 13. Travis Clayton and Jeff Kyrzakos scored goals for Bossier-Shreveport, who also got two assists from Shawn Limpright. Ken Carroll stopped 27 shots but saw his own four-game win streak come to an end.

LAST WEEK - Tuesday, February 23 vs. Texas CenturyTel Center W 4-2
GAME NOTES: Jim Jorgensen's first goal as a Mudbug was also the game-winner as Bossier-Shreveport surged back from a 2-0 deficit to score four unanswered goals in a 4-2 win over Texas Tuesday at the CenturyTel Center. The 'Bugs improved to 4-3 against the rival Brahmas with the victory, which was also their 30th of the year. Jeff Kyrzakos (2g, 1a), Shawn Limpright (1g, 2a) and Travis Clayton (3a) all finished with three points on the night and John DeCaro made 17 saves.

LAST WEEK - Friday, February 19 vs. Tulsa CenturyTel Center W 5-4(OT)
GAME NOTES: Joe Blaznek's second goal of the game at 2:24 of overtime lifted the Mudbugs to a 5-4 victory over Tulsa during the first night of "Pink in the Rink" weekend Friday at the CTC. After the 'Bugs had built a 4-1 lead in the game, the Oilers rallied with a three-goal third period to force overtime and get a point. In addition to the two-goal effort from Blaznek, the 'Bugs got a goal and an assist from Scott Kalinchuk and two assists each from Justin Aikins, Travis Clayton and David Rutherford. Ken Carroll also made 27 saves to win his second straight game.

GAME NOTES: Simon Mangos finished with four points and Joe Blaznek had three as the Mudbugs routed the RiverKings 6-1 Tuesday night at the DeSoto Civic Center. The win improved the 'Bugs to 6-2-0 against Mississippi this season. In addition to big nights for Mangos and Blaznek, David Rutherford and Jeff Kyrzakos each had two-goal outings for the Mudbugs as well and John DeCaro stopped 25 of 26 shots for his 15th win of the year.

LAST WEEK - Friday, February 5 vs. Wichita CenturyTel Center L 4-2
GAME NOTES: Rookie goaltender Scott Campbell stopped 38 shots as the Wichita Thunder knocked off the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs 4-2 Friday night at the CenturyTel Center. The loss ended the Mudbugs' five-game home winning streak and snapped a string of 13 straight regular season wins over the Thunder. Travis Clayton and Tyrel Lucas scored the goals for Bossier-Shreveport, who outshot Wichita 40-34 but were held off the scoreboard until the third period. John DeCaro made 30 saves, but saw his personal four-game win streak come to an end.

LAST WEEK: Wednesday, Jan. 20 vs. Rio Grande Valley CenturyTel Center W 7-0
GAME NOTES : Joe Ori scored just 21 seconds into the game and the 'Bugs never looked back in a 7-0 dismantling of Rio Grande Valley Wednesday night.
Tyrel Lucas scored twice, Brett Smith had a goal and two assists and Ken Carroll made 32 saves on the way to his second shutout of the season. The Mudbugs scored four goals in the second period to chase All-Star goalie Andy Franck from the net as Bossier-Shreveport enjoyed its biggest blowout of the season.

GAME NOTES: Goaltender Ken Carroll represented the Mudbugs in the 2010 CHL All-Star Game last week in Laredo, Texas. Carroll played the second period for the CHL All-Stars, making 13 saves on 16 shots. The South Texas All-Stars won the game 9-4 with Rio Grande Valley forward Sean Muncy (2g, 2a) taking home the MVP award for the winners. Odessa netminder Joel Martin was named MVP for the CHL All-Stars after stopping 27 of 28 shots in the first period.

GAME NOTES : Trailing the Brahmas 3-1 after two periods Wednesday night in Texas, the Mudbugs mounted an impressive third period comeback against their rivals to win 4-3 in a shootout. Jeff Kyrzakos scored midway through the third and then Travis Clayton tied the game with only 49 seconds left in regulation to force overtime before the 'Bugs outscored Texas 2-1 in the shootout, with Mark Johnson netting the clinching goal.

GAME NOTES : The Mudbugs held off a late Amarillo rally to top the Gorillas 4-3 on Monday night. GAME NOTES : The Mudbugs and Americans met for the first time ever on Friday night in a tight game that was decided entirely on special teams. Joe Blaznek's powerplay goal early in the second period put Bossier-Shreveport on top, but Allen countered with a 5-on-3 powerplay goal later in the period and then got the game-winner from Nathan O'Nabigon in the third, also on the man-advantage. The teams combined for 16 powerplays and 75 shots on goal in the contest.

Friday, October 16 vs. Laredo CenturyTel Center L 6-1
GAME NOTES: The Mudbugs opened in 09-10 season at home Friday night with a tough 6-1 defeat at the hands of the rival Laredo Bucks. The 'Bugs trailed 4-0 early in the third period before Joe Zappala got them on the scoreboard, but a comeback never materialized as Laredo beat Bossier-Shreveport in regulation for just the sixth time in 22 all-time regular season meetings.
