The Rapid City Rush blitzed the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs with five unanswered goals en route to a 7-3 victory in Game 7 of the CHL Northern Conference finals Wednesday night.
The win gives the Rush the Northern Conference championship and a berth in the CHL's Ray Miron President's Cup finals. The Mudbugs end their season short of the Cup. Bossier-Shreveport is 0-4 in its four Game 7s.

The Rapid City Rush said there were no more excuses.
They left no doubt.
Rapid City scored four first-period goals against Bossier-Shreveport in Game 7 of the Northern Conference finals and never looked back en route to a 7-3 win Wednesday at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Ice Arena.

Jazz legend B.B. King played right next door in the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Tuesday night, but it was the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs that had the Rapid City Rush singing the blues.
The Mudbugs staved off elimination in the Central Hockey League playoffs blanking the Rush 2-0 in Game 6 of the Northern Conference Finals.

It all comes down to tonight.
After dropping Game 6 of the Central Hockey League’s Northern Conference finals 2-0 to Bossier-Shreveport, the Rapid City Rush now face a do-or-die Game 7 tonight at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Ice Arena.
Playoff hockey is all about remaining focused after a win, but more importantly after a loss, and not letting those emotions dictate the next game or series.

When a playoff series goes the distance, the nerves, butterflies and just about every other source of anxious energy all leap to the surface.
Whether a player has been in the pros for two years or 12, those jittery feelings are hard to keep in check. And in a matchup this competitive, it’s hard to find a source of separation.

Parker Van Buskirk’s first professional shutout helped the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs to a 2-0 victory over the Rapid City Rush in Game 6 of the Northern Conference Finals Tuesday night at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. The win ties the best-of-seven series at three for Bossier-Shreveport, forcing a deciding Game 7 tomorrow night here in Rapid City.
Van Buskirk stopped all 27 shots he saw to improve to 3-2 and earn his first pro shutout, regular season or playoffs. Tyrel Lucas and Brett Smith both scored on odd-man rushes in the second period and the ‘Bugs killed off all six Rapid City powerplays on their way to the win.

The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs entered uncharted (frozen) waters Saturday.
And they played like it.
The free-wheeling, hard-hitting bunch that dominated Game 4 just 24 hours prior gave way to a tight squad seemingly all-too aware of the situation.

Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs coach Scott Muscutt didn’t mince words Friday. He said Game 4’s rout of Rapid City would mean absolutely nothing in Game 5. He was right.
A more composed Rush team earned a 4-1 win at the CenturyTel Center in Saturday’s pivotal Game 5 in the Northern Conference Finals. The win gives Rapid City a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 series. The series moves back to South Dakota for Game 6 on Tuesday. The Mudbugs now are in must-win mode or their season is over.

Does Charlie Daniels play a mean fiddle? Yes, but he couldn't hold a candle to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs on Friday.
The Mudbugs were maestros in Game 4 of the Central Hockey League's Northern Conference Finals against Rapid City. Bossier-Shreveport toyed with the Rush for 60 minutes at the CenturyTel Center and regained some leverage in this best-of-7 slugfest.

So much for a close game.
Parker Van Buskirk and the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs handed Rapid City a 6-1 rout on Friday, flipping the script on the Northern Conference Finals.
The Mudbugs' 22-year-old goaltender made 30 saves on 31 shots and was eying a shutout until Riley Weselowski scored on a long deflection with 5:58 left in the game at the CenturyTel Center.

A memorable win in Game 3 of the Central Hockey League Northern Conference finals was followed by a Game 4 the Rapid City Rush would just as soon forget.
The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs handed Rapid City a 6-1 drubbing Friday night, evening the best-of-seven series at 2-2.
The glow from Corey Laurysen’s overtime game-winning shot for Rapid City on Wednesday night quickly faded under the Mudbugs’ power-play barrage. Three of the six Bossier-Shreveport goals came with a Rush player in the penalty box.

For most of the 2009-2010 Central Hockey League season, the Rapid City Rush’s special teams unit has been the toast of the league.
Now in the Northern Conference playoff finals, the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs are making the Rush’s penalty kill unit and power-play lines look like just plain toast.

Less than three weeks ago, the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs boasted the top goaltending tandem in the Central Hockey League's postseason.
With Superman and Red River Killer, the last thing the Teal and Purple needed to worry about was the blue-shaded area between the pipes.
Wednesday, for the first time in an impressive 13-year run, the Mudbugs were out of jerseys and big-name goaltenders.

Laurysen’s just-go-for-it shot found its way into the back of the net 15:35 into overtime on Wednesday night, lifting the Rapid City Rush to a 3-2 win over the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs and capping a remarkable two weeks for the Carp, Ontario, rookie defenseman.

Defenseman Corey Laurysen scored on a long shot through traffic at 15:35 of overtime to give the Rapid City Rush a 3-2 victory over the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs in Game 3 of the Northern Conference Finals Wednesday night at the CenturyTel Center. The victory gives Rapid City a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series, which resumes on Friday night with Game 4.
Goaltenders Parker Van Buskirk and Danny Battochio held the spotlight for much of this one, combining for 76 saves. Both Mudbugs goals came on the powerplay as Jeff Kyrzakos and Chris St. Croix each scored to erase one-goal deficits.

There was a goaltending battle going at the CenturyTel Center on Wednesday.
It just wasn't the one you exactly expected at the start of the Northern Conference Finals.
Emergency-goaltender-turned-starter Parker Van Buskirk was in net for the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs and CHL Rookie of the Year Danny Battochio was in net for the Rapid City Rush.

Parker Van Buskirk might have had a little trouble swallowing his breakfast Sunday morning. That is when the Bossier-Shreveport backup goaltender found out he would be in goal for Game 2 of the Northern Conference finals against the Rapid City Rush in place of injured veteran Ken Carroll.
It was the first start between the pipes for Van Buskirk, who did not join the Mudbugs until the third game of its playoff series with Colorado, when starting goaltender Jon DeCaro went down with an injury to the groin.
